If you’ve been on another world to Planet Curious in the last two weeks or so, you may have missed our bit of fun for Easter with the Curious Golden Egg Hunt.

We sneakily hid seven golden eggs around the website, each with a unique letter engraved on them which when put together formed a famous wine region. Over the last seven days, we’ve been drawing winners from the HUNDREDS of correct answers through our newsletter, and today’s the biggie: one of our Easter Mixed Cases worth over €150 up for grabs to our final winner.

First things first though: the seven egg locations.

1. Les Obriers de la Peira, from the Languedoc in France (letter: C)

2. Fairhall Cliffs Sauvignon Blanc, from Marlborough, New Zealand (letter: H)

3. Pago Malarina Semi-Crianza, Rioja, Spain (letter: A)

4. Borgo Magredo Prosecco Frizzante, Veneto, Italy (letter: B)

5. Battle Island Shiraz Cabernet from the Furious Knives of Wine in McLaren Vale, Australia (letter: L)

6. Paarl Heights Chenin Blanc from Paarl in South Africa (letter: I)

7. Santa Alicia Reserva Chardonnay from Maipo Valley in Chile (letter: S)

The wine region in question (if you haven’t spotted it) was CHABLIS. (We thought apt given our Rediscover Chardonnay promo this month!)

And the winners, all announced over the last week over on Facebook:

Day 1: Grace Cunningham

Day 2: Mary O’Farrell

Day 3: Rachel Teodorini

Day 4: Michael Gallagher

Day 5: Tom Atkins

Day 6: Brid McMahon

And Day 7…. congratulations to our final winner, just announced, Dennis Maguire!

As a little Easter bonus for those that didn’t win, we’ve put the seven golden egg wines, including the wine that ‘normally restrained people fight over at the dinner table’, into a mixed case of 12 and knocked over 20% off the price, just in time for Easter.

You can get 5 reds, 6 whites and a bottle of bubbly for €115 including delivery, saving €28.88 on the normal combined price of these highly recommended wines.

You’ve just got to move quickly. Our deadline for delivery in time for Easter has been extended by 24 hours to 1.00pm Thursday 21st April, and we’ve extended the original 24 hour limit on the Golden Egg Case accordingly.

Final deliveries on all orders received up to 1.00pm tomorrow will be made on Good Friday, nationwide.

This month’s contest is a little bit more fun (and work!) than usual, but we’ve over €400 worth of wine to give away to SEVEN lucky winners, in the Curious Golden Egg Hunt.

We’ve hidden seven golden eggs around the website, all nestled discretely in the wine bottle pics on our product pages, and each with a letter printed on them. All you have to do is find the eggs, identify the seven letters, and rearrange them to uncover a well known wine region.

To win, you must be subscribed to the Curious Wines newsletter. We’ll include instructions on how to enter in our April newsletter going out shortly. (Just missed it? Sign-up here and you’ll automatically get it sent to you.)

We’ll announce one winner every day from next Thursday 14th April over on the Curious Wines Facebook page, so you can enter right up to Wednesday 20th April.

Each of the first six winners drawn will win one of our six-bottle Party Mixes, with the final winner on Wednesday week scooping the star prize of one of our Easter Mixed Cases – over €150 worth of wine, all for themselves.

All prizes will be dispatched in time for Easter so you can toast us while you open your real Easter eggs.

The golden eggs are already out there so, ready… get set…

Easter Lent-Busters from Curious

With Easter just around the corner it’s now time to start planning the long weekend and, hopefully, a lent-busting, chocolate-laden, recession-forgetting big family hooley!

If (heaven forbid!) you’ve abstained from wine for lent, you can now start thinking about leaping head-first off the wagon with some perfect wine matches for a slap-up Easter dinner. We’ve put together a decadent half-dozen for the occasion – from bubbly aperitif to mouth-watering appetiser, through to succulent main course and sticky dessert – all for €89 delivered to your door.

For openers, try some cheeky pink fizz from Veneto – refreshingly off-dry with soft acidity to kick-start the taste-buds. At the table, our two French Chardonnays – rich and buttery Burgundy and equally delicious Lunar Organic from the Languedoc – will suit a range of starters, from most seafood to chicken salad.

For mains, if you’re on traditional fair of turkey, goose or duck, we’ve two quite different but equally complementing reds – Hawkes Bay Pinot Noir and a fruity Morgon from Beaujolais to finish up. And finally, for the crowning indulgence, try some of this glass-coating Botrytised Sauvignon Blanc with a sticky dessert (you might even leave a sneaky half-glass for a night-cap with some Easter Egg!).

We’ve guaranteed nationwide delivery before Good Friday for orders received before 12pm on Tuesday the 7th, with non-guaranteed (but a very good chance!) on orders up to 12pm Wednesday. Normal service will resume from the Curious Warehouse on Tuesday 14th.

Have a very happy Easter,
Mike & Matt

PS There’s a little Easter surprise on this selection for Wine Club members in our April newsletter, so if you haven’t signed up already, do so now!
